Specific Aims

  1. To test the feasibility of sleep apnea assessment using the ApneaLinkā„¢ device in 56 participants in the WHIMS subset of WHI.

We will specifically test the feasibility of self-application of the device, and generate critical data on the failure rate for this measurement in older WHI participants.

  2. To assess the willingness of WHI participants to enroll in a future ancillary study designed to test the association of sleep with cardiovascular and cognitive outcomes.

  3. To provide preliminary data linking sleep disordered breathing to recently collected repeated measures of cognitive function (global and domain specific), cognitive impairment (mild cognitive impairment, all-cause dementia) and CVD risk factors.
