Using the DNA/RNA Specimen Availability Page

This query feature will allow you to limit your query to participants that have DNA or RNA available for your proposed lab assays.

1. Specimen Type: Select a specimen type - DNA or RNA.

  • RNA has already been extracted (from PAXGene tube).
  • DNA is extracted from stored buffy coat. Some DNA has already been extracted (including all DNA from the Long Life Study).

2. Collection Visit: Select the time point(s) that DNA/RNA was collected. If time point does not matter, select "Any Visit".

  • For most genetic studies, it does not matter what time point the DNA was collected (e.g. GWAS, SNPs).  There are some assays for which time point does matter (e.g. methylation, telomere).  If time point does NOT matter, selecting "Any Visit" will improve sample availability for your study.
  • RNA (from PAXgene tubes) was only collected at the Long Life Study visit.

3. Mass and Concentration: Enter the minimum DNA/RNA mass and concentration required for your assay(s). Note that Ancillary Studies requesting more than 1 ug DNA or 0.5 ug RNA will need to provide strong justification. Please click [here] to see the limits on biological samples available for ancillary studies.

4. Negate: Press this button if you want to make the criteria you have selected NOT true. The Negate button is available on all criteria screens. To undo, simply click the "Undo Negation" button.
